Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree or equivalent related qualification as recognized by SAQA.
  • Experience as a legal practitioner in legal and compliance at an executive level.
  • Board of Directors, Board Committee member, or Audit Committee experience (preference given for public sector senior level experience).
  • Must be independent non-executives with no business interests or dealings with GCIS.
  • Experience in participating in governance structures, especially Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Ability to dedicate resources to the work of the GCIS Audit Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate in accordance with approved Audit Committee charter.
  • Oversee system of governance, risk and control.
  • Make recommendations to Accounting Officer on adequacy and effectiveness of – Internal and External Audit, Internal Controls, Risk Management, Governance (including IT Governance), Financial Management, Financial and Non-Financial Reporting, Compliance with Laws and Regulations.
  • Help Accounting Officer ensure effective combined assurance plan is developed and implemented.
  • Participate in six Audit Committee (AC) meetings per annum (four ordinary and two special meetings).

Term Of Appointment

Initial Term: 3 years

Renewal: Subject to satisfactory performance or at GCIS discretion for another 3 years.
